After slight price losses on Thursday, the US stock exchanges should start trading a little firmer on Friday, as the pre-market indications show. In the past few days, weaker-than-expected inflation data (consumer prices on Wednesday, producer prices on Thursday) had fueled hopes that the US Federal Reserve could slow the pace of interest rate hikes in the fall. On Friday, this impression was reinforced by import prices, which were also weaker.
